About the Property
Space is luxurious, and it really has been’
Grand and luxurious, this property gives off an air of elegance, but to the family who have cherished it for the last 50 years, it is a cosy home. There was an explosion of property building during the Victorian era; built in 1900s, this Victorian villa was built at the end of the period. It was designed by Falkirk architect Henry Wilson, who later went on to become the President of the Stirling Society of Architects.
It is a rare opportunity to own such a property in fact, the last time this was on the market was 50 years ago, and it has only been available to purchase twice in its history.
From walking up the driveway to the front door you cannot help but be in awe of this property, it is not just the beauty of its architectural design, but also the amount of outside space available. Through the stained-glass door of the porch you are welcomed with a hallway that can’t help but impress; the roaring fire set in a striking fireplace will no doubt catch your eye, as will the panelling and even the doors. You can imagine this all dressed for Christmas with a tree taking pride of place, filling you with festive cheer as you arrive home.
You will be struck with the feeling of space, yet not overwhelmed. The high ceilings, with their cornicing and ceiling roses, the tall windows that flood each room with light, becoming beautiful focal points, and the many fireplaces, each with its own charm.
The house is at its best when its filled with people, the owner enthuses, and you can understand why, with each room flowing into the next with ease, you can see it filled with those that you love. If you could pick the ideal home to grow up in, this would be the house.
The original plan for the property was always for a fifth bedroom to be built, but it never was. Instead, the owners extended to what is now the stunning master suite, with a glorious sized bedroom, en-suite, and dressing room. Not only is it absolutely sumptuous, it also offers you the ideal private space to relax in.
As outstanding as the interior of this property is, it is the outside space which is one of the owners’ favourite spaces. The garden is just as an important part of the house as the inside. It is a substantial plot, which is unusual to find so close to the centre of the town. The conservatory is a space we use a lot as when it is open you feel like you are in the garden. Having this outside space during lockdown was fabulous, especially with the lovely weather we had.
The thing I will miss the most is the mature trees in the garden, I just adore them and watch how they change through the seasons. They also provide a great deal of privacy in the summer when you need them, as well as colour, and they are stark and exquisitely haunting in the winter. The property as a whole offers a wealth of privacy; when you come up the drive you are in your own world. The great thing about the drive is there is room for about six cars, ideal when you have friends and family over, there is also a good-sized double garage.
The appeal of this home just keeps increasing, especially when you discover you can walk to the station within 10 minutes, meaning you can be in Glasgow or Edinburgh within 20. The town centre is also only 10 minutes away where you will find a wealth of amenities on the high street. You also have the joy of woodland walks, with the Forth and Clyde and Union Canals all in very easy reach.
There is one thing we know for sure this is one property you do not want to let slip through your fingers. It is a home where your children will thrive, that provides your family with space to come together, and where you will thoroughly enjoy entertaining. Falling in love with this property is inevitable, but will it steal your heart?
